The main tasks and functions of the Department of Social Protection and Support of Children:

further increase the effectiveness of measures to provide social guarantees for children with various disabilities and in need of treatment and rehabilitation, create an adaptive environment for their education, optimize the differentiated network of specialized educational institutions (schools, boarding schools) for children with disabilities;

Establishment and implementation of state programs on social protection of persons with disabilities, rehabilitation, social protection of persons with disabilities and ensuring their rights and legitimate interests, as well as regional programs;

education of people with disabilities, their vocational training and organization of training sessions for children with disabilities treated in general secondary education institutions, inpatient treatment-and-prophylaxis or rehabilitation institutions;

coordination and control over the activities of public institutions that ensure the protection of the rights, freedoms and legitimate interests of persons in need of guardianship or trusteeship;

Carrying out centralized control over the establishment of alternative forms of placement of children in need of social protection (guardianship and trusteeship, adoption of children and families (patronage), placement in specialized educational, medical institutions, social protection institutions);

improving the activities of orphanages, ensuring the socio-psychological rehabilitation and legal protection of children left without parental care, promoting their social and labor skills and social integration;

to take measures to improve the activities of specialized educational institutions, as well as other institutions that perform the functions of ensuring the protection of the rights, freedoms and legitimate interests of minors.
